About Rio Rosales
When Rio Rosales Elementary School opened in its temporary location in 2000, no one could have predicted the honors this school would receive. In 2006, Rio Rosales was named a California Distinguished School, and just one year later, the school received a Title One Academic Achievement Award and was nominated as a Blue Ribbon School. Now the school has a permanent home, opening its new doors in August 2007. In addition to offering regular education and kindergarten classrooms, Rio Rosales also offers after-school activities through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme.

Parent Involvement at Rio Rosales
We would like to welcome all new and returning parents and students for the new school year. We hope you will join us as we work together with our teachers and staff to support the growth and development of students here on campus. We encourage you to participate in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Site Council (SSC), English Language Acquisition Committee (ELAC), and other site committees and projects. Please contact the school office for additional information. Meeting dates will be posted on the monthly newsletter/calendar. All parents are welcome to attend. By working together, we can help provide our students with a quality education and a positive and safe environment.
Principal's Message
At Rio Rosales, we believe the world needs happy, literate, empathetic people who can solve problems together.
The 21st century is a new world. Our schools need to prepare children for a future we can barely imagine. My vision as principal of this fine school is to help prepare the heads, hands, and hearts of our children and this community to meet the challenges of the future.
Schools should reflect the dreams of the communities they serve. We are always interested in partnering with this community to help guide us in the choices and chances we provide for our children.
Please know that we are here to work with you in good faith for our children. We welcome your interest and value your feedback.
-Ryan Howatt, M.Ed.
